Went with R-12 because it was half the cost of r20 (only $100), and I figure I will only be heating the garage when I am in it.
I will add more or blow some more in next year if I find the heat loss to great.

Gotta love the hockey stick :D
Using it to push the insulation around, saving me from having to jump up in the on the rafters all the time.

First third or half of the garage ceiling is insulated. Time to retack some of the poly I had to pull down.

Finished Polying around the light!!!
Oh by the way, I came damn close to electrocuting myself here, be careful. Turn those switches off. I hit the metal box with the light terminal and sparks flew everywhere, somehow I didn't get "juiced".

I put these bad boys in. Had to pull the poly on the wall down to it :D
It is a metal plate that ensure you don't screw/nail there once the wall is boarded up. Behind the plates is the wiring. Code doesn't require it through 2x4's as a drywall screws aren't long enough to hit the center of the stud and pierce the wire. I just did it anyway. After all I am dumb enough to throw a three inch screw into the wall.
I notched out behind the metal plate (just bang it a few times with a good sharp chisel and hammer). So the drywall will stay flush.
Nice :D

Almost killed myself here too. I used tongue and Groove 5/8" plywood and tacked them down to the studs using drywall screws. There is a fair amount of storage up there, it worked out good.
When I was up there tacking them I leaned on the side up one of the untacked boards and nearly fell though the ceiling.
Also when I was climbing up there the latter fell from under my feet but I grabbed the truss in time so I was hanging from the ceiling for a minute and then jumped down, they are only 10 foot ceilings.

I only used too sheets on the south side of the attic. On the north side I used 4 sheets (4X8'). There is a fair amount of room!
And that concludes this pictorial.
I kept working and fished insulating the back side of the garage (for the most part), and put the frame in for the attic door. Will take pics and post shortly.

I am not sure whether or not it is required by code. The vapour barrier will stop condensation from ruining the drywall.
