Hello Guys,Today i finally got some shots of the progress of my garage, though be as slow as it may.I'm excited about my lil 18x24 detached and i suppose as most guys i wish it,(like many other things) was bigger.I missed the moment to actually increase the width to 22or24' when we realized the location of the garage needed to be both moved closer to the house and turned. This was due to having difficulty of reaching clay soil instead of topsoil for foundation purposes. When the first dig started,we found that a large section of my back yard contained ruble of homes that musta been tore down for development.I bought my house from a man whom had owned a buisness that was just below my back yard & also beside my house is a parking lot that was originally used when that biz was active. So lovely to live in the city..:( ....But it's home. After digging 4' or more,we found that could save the build by turning and moving the foundation closer. This is where i wish i had pics of all these steps and also my first effort to build the walls for my foundation( req 16"w X 18"d).One side was 3' below surface(B4 getting Below TopSoil) and the others as little as 24".I had to learn how to do 2 stepDowns,1@24"&1@16".) To most that would prob be quite easy,Oooooooo....not me,i find the Hard way to everything! Then to secure the foundation,i ran 3...YEA,THREE! runs of rebar, plus of course all the pcs i drove every 2' to wire it all together. My foundation alone took almost 3yds of concrete. Then came the block....Hired someone to do that,i'd been lost and would've wasted more than i could save!Anyway i just wanted to share a little....ok....i said a lot,but at least a few pics!

I have never heard anyone ever utter the words, "I wish I had built it a little smaller!" Everything that I've ever heard has been as big as you can get. My 26x26 attached garage was all that my property could hold. Even then, it is still going to take some hard work to make everything fit neatly. Nice setup by the way! That ought to be a lot of fun once it's finished.

Appreciate the input..... after upgrading to a diff bike and needing to start work on my project car,i'm constanly thinking of what i may need to do to gain workspace for both. I'm already thinking that next year i'll pour me a pad on the farside which would allow me to create an enclosure for the bike and maybe another door to help open up to my existing space for the car.Got the idea from one of these duel/triple space carports i always see.Have ya any progress on your backyard yet? love that stepped process you started.Love to see it when all is complete, checked your pics at webshots.....nice!

No progress yet, I barely got everything covered for winter. With the rain and snow, I decided to leave the backyard clean up 'til spring. I have done some cleaning and tweaking on my Firebird, but still slow progress as I didn't have the chance to hook up the heating yet. May and June will be my finish up months and then I'll take some more time for summer. I spent four heavy months of building during every waking moment, and want to catch up with the kids.
Rather than take over your thread, I'll post the rest of my plans in a new one. Maybe before this weekend if all goes well.

Garage should never be small as you never know you may buy a big car or want to also park your bike inside and so it should be big and don't make your garage on height and keep it on ground if possible and also a 26*26 garage is fine.
