Does , anybody here use propane to heat their garage. I have been using it as a supplement to furnace, I use a radiant burner that mounts on top of a 30lb bottle . No fumes . Lasts for about a month. Cost is around $18.00 per month. I think its a bargain.Im in the garage alot screwin around with the hotrod. Or shootin the breeze with my car guys that come over. See pics :D

Woah man great picture. I have been thinking about one of those. I havea ready Heater that I do not use as I heard the fumes from the diesel gas can be bad. Are you 100% sure its okay in a closed garage?

Does it throw good heat? How many BTUs?

It looks good :D

I have used it , for about three months in my garage, no fumes , no ill effects . It only takes about 15 minutes and it is warm enough to shut off.

Sometimes, I leave it on 20 -30 min , then its too hot for me around 75'

I think the diesel heat would be too fuming to run inside.

Wow that's awesome. How cold is it where you are? Where are you again?

How big is the garage again?

Im in Kansas City , snowing a bit right now. Its about 20' degrees here tonite. Cost was $69.00 . Its called Mr Heater , Iknow its stupid name but it really does a bang up job. Propane tank cost about 18.00 bucks a cylinder. With regular use it will last about 3 1/2 weeks

My garage is a large single , but after getting this heater it should make your basic 2 car feel decent . The plus is you can move it anywhere you want.

The same manufactures them with a single , double 'like mine ' or a triple burner. Got it at Ace Hardware Stores , You familar with thier stores in your area.

Its called Mr Heater

:) I wonder how much time it took 'em to come up with that one?

Seems like it's a perfect fit for your garage. I don't completely understand how gas can be used in a heater without emitting fumes, but I've also heard the type you have isn't harmful.

it is because the radiant grilles completely burn the gas, They get red hot

This is such a cool idea! I have supplemental propane (80 gallon tank) outside the garage window... It is there for a stove in the breakfast room but I could tap in a line for a propane heater for the garage... Or, just go with the Mr. Heater idea.

I have a small heat pump for the garage but the outside compressor died a couple of years ago and during the winter it's no fun going out there to work anymore. :(

In retrospect, using propane would be an obvious solution for me. Thanks for the idea! :D

I think you will like it , pretty cold in Kansas City the past month, my heater made 88 degrees inside with 12* outside temp . turned on for 20 minutes then shut it off. As stated in previous post, 18.00 dollars a month , no fumes
or ill effects. It goes with out saying insulation is a must.

Mr Bill. Using propane lights and stove are vent free too. How would they differ or is burned propane the same in all cases?

I have a hugeprobably 40-50 gal. propane tank that was used on an old farmtruck. The truck was switched back to gas a few years ago, when the propane carb quit. Would this be of any use to you diesel guys? Just curious.
