The garage is really shaping up now. What is left is siding, overhead doors, and trim. And...electrical.

It is a 28x48 detached garage. I don't have anything that will pull a lot of juice, but I want to leave room for expansion.

So, I'm just curious what everyone else has for electrical service in their garages. Thanks in advance.

I ran 6/3 wire from my main panel to the sub panel in the garage with a 100 amp breake. The new sub panel has 8 circuits 20 amps a piece. I just ran 12/2 and 12/3 wire for each of the circuits and 20W GFI outlets. I plan on using a compressor and frig out there. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. That is similar to what I was considering. What size is the main breaker on your main panel?

I plan on running a 125 Amp sub-panel in my shop. I will be using welders and air compressors. I have a 200 amp main supply coming to my property, with a 100 Amp sub panel to my house.

100 Amp should be plenty by what you are describing.

Yeah I only have a 100 AMP off of the Main, its more than enough.

What I meant was, how big is your main panel (size of main breaker)?
