View Full Version : Want to Fix up my Garage

I've recently had a revelation, that my garage is a complete disaster. The garage is attached to my house that we built 6 years ago, and it has just a polished concrete floor.
Now my problem is two fold:
Firstly I want to paint the floor with a 2 part epoxy. I've read lots of infomation on it so I hope I get it right (all the attention in the prep). But my issue is around the edges where the floor meets the walls. There is a raised part of the foundation of the garage that juts out from the wall. Then on top of that the gyprock. Does anyone out there know how I can cover this up to make a nice clean edge? It varies in height due to the slope in the garage for drainage.

Secondly, about the drainage. The garage is supposed to be sloped to the doors..which it is, but I have a low spot where the water puddles up in the winter time when the snow melts off the car. I'd like to get rid of this, as the huge puddle that forms is quite annoying. I was wondering if I could build a drain in the floor (there is no drian right now in the garage at all). I attached a little drawing to help clarify my idea. Seesing as how there is no drain present I'd only be able to put a pipe into the gravel base under the floor. I just don't know if this would work, or if it would just fill up and I'd have a hole full of water in my garage.

That's it for now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching the net forever to try and figure the edging out to no luck.

You could just run a baseboard along the bottom of the drywall and then paint the 'edge' with the same epoxy that you are going to do the garage floor with. That way it may blend in with the rest of the floor. If you paint the baseboard white and the edge the same color of the floor, you can have a optical illusion of sorts.
