View Full Version : New Shop/Garage
We are building a house on 5 acres and have finally gotten my dream detached garage/shop. It's almost finished. Have added light fixtures inside and out and the electrical has been run. Garage is 24 x 32. I have three 110v receptacles on each wall, one receptacle on the back wall between the windows and one in the ceiling for either a cord reel or garage door opener if needed. Hope to get 240v run eventually. I had the 16 x 8 ft door installed so I can roll my dodge truck in for work. Mostly the garage will be used to restore old motorcycles and tinker/welding/light machining/wood working. Very interested in reading how you guys finish your garage floors. The ceramic tile on the Best video was pretty incredible. :)

Nice Setup,it's good to see additions to the site and the size of your garage seems nice and has a lot of possibilities. You plan to do old bikes you own or as a restoration service? Theres a guy local who has a biz that does many older Nortons, triumphs etc. Unfortunately he speaks of closing shop in the future due to his health after an accident last year. Keep us up to speed on your progress!
I have a 1975 Honda GL1000 and a 1976 Honda CL360K1 that I am working on. I split my riding between the GL1000 and a 2001 BMW R1200C. Attached is a picture of the CL360K1 Scrambler.

Good to see some classic pcs like that.Until recently i wasn't even aware that Honda produced any 360's as opposed to 350's.I'll share a pic from Henry's shop showing one(350 street/trail) that he has that i also know of a second one within a few miles that another friend of mine has at his shop which his wife took over after he died last year. You using any lift tables? I purchased a set of plans to build a worktable that will allow me to lift the bike using a floorjack then the table folds for storage. Anxiuos to see how you set up your garage.Since i had to drag my build out for the last year,i probably benefited by thinking some things thru and added/modified everything from electrical to air lines to better serve my needs. Still needing to complete some simple things. I'll prob be adding a overhang to the rear of my garage for parking my bike since primary use was for building my 65 project.
A friend of mine has a shop (high dollar bikes) and he uses the Harbor Freight $300 tables. I have seen similar tables for around $200 and I could always beef it up with some angle iron etc. Friends shop (not sure he's gonna make it since he put a lot of cash into buying the building and has only sold two new bikes in a year. The old stuff he has on the floor he sells relatively quick. www.steelhorseclassics.com (http://www.steelhorseclassics.com)
Anyway, I was up at the property today and looking at the garage floor and I might just leave it the way it is. I think the contractor used some kind of sealer on it. Might wait on resurfacing it for awhile.
Nice looking Honda! I recently sold a 1981 Honda GL500 (in the picture-paid $500 for it and sold it for a little more) the one with the Moto Guzzi engine on ebay, so have reduced my fleet to just 3 bikes. I was going to cafe racer the GL500 if no one bought it off ebay.
Other picture is the 1976 Gold Wing GL1000. It's a driver and I have the original timing belt cover and the original head covers but just haven't installed them yet. I'm keeping the Wing naked. I think the original color was Burgundy.
Well, my layout of the garage will be the all important fridge stocked with malt beverages, motorcycle lift, my DR Walk behind Brush Cutter will have a place of it's own, as will the 3 motorcycles. I saw the guy on the Ultimate Garage video and he had like 25k in cabinets...mine will be wood or bought from an industrial supplier like Global Equip. Our new house that we are building also has a walk out basement and cavernous crawlspace, so my garage will not be a collect all space.
More garage pictures from the beginning.

Wow!! What a beautiful house too! I like the brick and yellow siding, good looking combination. :)
Thanks Erik. Hopefully we will move in the new house mid July. Then can start setting up my shop.
