I am new to the forum, but I like what I see so far. I will get some photos of my garage on here this weekend. I have a good bit of organizing and work to do, but I love my garage. Yesterday evening after work, I pulled my truck in, turned on the heat and tunes, and installed a stereo in my truck. When I finished up, I did a few other things I"d needed to do for a while.
This weekend I've got some maintenance on my daily driver, but after that, I will upload some photos and see what you all think.
It's 2 bay detached garage, w/ storage upstairs. It's a steel I-Beam garage, so there are no posts inside. Heat is from a kerosene heater right now. I put in a fridge, internet accessible PC, and stereo, as well as WAY too much junk that I need to get rid of! But from what I hear on this site, that's all of us!
Future plans are to move my air compressor to a small 'woodshop' on the other side of the fridge, and then plumb the garage w/ quick-connects for my air tools. This will cut down on noise of the compressor when it's running.
I need to get rid of the washer and dryer which are in my way now. I'm also wanting to coat the floor with one of those floor coatings that I see at Lowes. I also want to add a few more flurescant lights.
Thanks for having such a nice site devoted to garages.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Your garage looks like its a nice size...lots of room to do what you want with it! Can't wait to see the progress.

Nice, one word of caution, if you use a floor paint or epoxy be very careful to ensure its perfectly clean before applying and spend a few extra buxks and get a good product.
What type of bike is under all those towels?
I have the same heater but its broken, was given to me by a friend in that state :(

Thanks, I really like the garage, and am looking forward to the progress. I have been looking at a few products, I'm a little concerned because everything I've read is that it's best to apply the epoxy when the temperature is warm to touch. Being a concrete floor in January, that could be a while.
The bike under the shop towels has became my 'Shop Towel Rack' for now. It's an '81 Suzuki GS450 that is just a project that was given to me. I had it running last summer, and rode it down the alley one time, and pushed it back into the garage. There's plenty of work to be done to this bike, thinking about parting it out, as it's in my way more than anything.
That little Kerosene heater really warms up the garage quick, I generally turn it on when I get home from work and it'll be nice and warm in just a little bit.

Yeah you might want to wait until it warms up. I don't think the heater i have is actually broken, its just old, but I couldn't find a manual online anywhere to figure out what to do with it.
That's a cool bike you should fix it up and keep it your garage to play around on every once in a while or hang it on your wall/from your roof.
Where you located?

Trust me, the bike may look pretty good from the pictures, but it's rough up close. I live in southern WV. Yeah, I figure i'll end up waiting till it warms up to do the flooring.

Well, I got my compressor moved to a smaller room on the outside of my garage (on the opposite side of the wall of the fridge). This room also has the concrete floor, and makes a good place for my compressor. I plumbed my air lines in, with quick connects at my workbench, halfway down the I-Beam, and then all the way to the garage-doors. I really like it this way, as I can use my air tools at the bench, or connect and use it in my garage and outside. The best part is that when the compressor is running, the noise is cut to just a hum which is much easier on the ears than the normal sound.

Nice, good plan. Can we some pics?
Man what a good idea... i hate when a compressor is running all afternoon especially if there are a few people in the garage and you have to yell over it :D

Exactly, and if you're like me...it always seems that a few buddies are over hanging out, drinking beer, and 'supervising' when you're working in the garage. With this, you can keep right on working without the noise being a problem. The better method would have been to plumb it w/ actual steel pipe or copper, but I did the quick and easy method. I just have a 50' air hose that is up over the garage, and the quick connects branch off that. It works the same, is secured to the garage, so it doesn't move, and it was cheap and fast...come to think of it, maybe this was the better method.

My future plans are to epoxy coat the floor, just to give it a good look as well as having it easy to clean up. I'll wait till the weather warms up a good bit though so it bonds properly. I want to add some more flurescant lighting. I need to get some more shelving or maybe cabinets up to help stow things away. I have a few sheets of pegboard that I've had for years, I need to put those up and organize a few tools.
And of course, as I've said so many times before, I need to get rid of some junk in my way.

Oh man, I think we can ALL relate to that! It's tough though, I mean, it's amazing how fast clutter accumulates. As soon as you finally get rid of something, then something else already tries to take its place. My problem is thinking that whatever it is, I'll need it or use it some day. Yeah right! :D

I have been doing a few changes to my garage, but need to really clean it up before some pictures. This winter I've worked so much in the garage and really enjoyed everything. I am looking forward to the weather warming up a bit more so I can coat the floor with an expoxy covering.
The last thing I did was build another workbench on the side.
